IN a strategic move to capture economic momentum in the Gulf LNG Project, landowner group LIU Purari Holdings has partnered BNG Trading to focus on benefits for locals in terms of employment opportunity and service delivery to the project.
The partnership between the two entities has seen the launch of a joint venture company, Gulf Alpha Services, which was signed in Port Moresby yesterday with its first board meeting.
The launch of Gulf Alpha Services Ltd, which is a PNG established company, is to deliver comprehensive upstream and downstream support services across the energy, resource and heavy industry sector.
Gulf Alpha Services Ltd (GAS) has been formed with a clear mission: to provide operational support while driving meaningful local participation, employment and skills development in particular to the Gulf-Purari region in PNG.
Alois Koivi, Laiuhe landowner group chairman, said as landowners of the northern segment pipeline corridor, they own 40 kilometres of pipeline and have two laydowns and less population. “We only have a population of more than 200 people with no issues and are happy with this partnership. We look forward to many good things that will come out of this.” Mr Koivi said northern segment is the only recognised land group that is established. “And with this joint venture is good for the landowners to come on board and partner with an already established and reputable company like BNG. “We trust their existence and also their capabilities. We believe that they can deliver to the expectations of the developer.” GAS managing director Jack Burgess said the Gulf Alpha Services is about capability, compliance and community. “We are building a company that not only meets the technical demands for major projects but also ensures real economic participation for local landowners and communities.
“This is about long-term partnership and sustainable growth.” The establishment of Gulf Alpha Services Ltd reflects a shared vision between LIU Purari Holdings and BNG Trading to combine landowner participation with proved commercial and operational expertise. “With deep local roots, established infrastructure and decades of operational delivery in Papua New Guinea, the partners are confident that GAS will become a trusted service provider to the nation’s energy and industrial sectors.”
